Cd cover analisis

Foo Fighters - The Colour and the Shape
This album cover is very basic and doesn’t conform to any album covers of the time it was published. This was the bands first album and they were trying to be distinctive by breaking conventions.
The background is a single colour, which does not draw the eyes attention; the bands name is in a red cursive font, which despite the contrasting colour does not draw the attention either.
The computerised image of spheres and lines is the distinctive object on the album cover, trapping the viewer’s eye as they try and figure out what it is. The shape has a 3d appearance which draws the eye into it. The band name is spread across the cover slightly below centre below centre, keeping in convention with Album covers; however, the album name is not displayed.

The album cover suits the image the Foo Fighters were aiming for at the time this album was released, which was that of a not entirely serious band. This was also reflected in the music video they produced.

Arctic Monkeys – When the sun goes down
This cover is just a photo of an alleyway in Sheffield, with no editing applied to it other than the black and colour to create an impression of seediness.
The bands logo and the album name have both been edited on to give them an appearance of being stuck on
